Christians: Why Is It So Hard For Evolution (and Other Science) And God To Coexist?

Why can’t you believe that the world is ~6.7 billion years old and that humans and dinosaurs NEVER coexisted and humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor? I know there are intelligent christians out there, Dr. Ken Miller (wrote many HS biology text books and went to court in Dover in favor for evolution) and Francis Collins (head of the human genome project and cancer researcher) and they with others do not doubt evolution. If it’s because of the bible, well the bible also states: (would you take this literally as well?) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not. Proverbs 3:5 “When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property.” Exodus 21:20-21 “If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, entices you secretly, saying, `Let us go and serve other gods,’ which neither you nor your fathers have known, some of the gods of the peoples that are round about you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him; but you shall kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. You shall stone him to death with stones, – Deuteronomy 13:6-11″If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they chastise him, will not give heed to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, and they shall say to the elders of his city, `This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones – Deuteronomy 21:18-2

Science is the search for truth. Religion is believing in something that has no evidence to back it up. How can these things coexist

I could easily believe it, if it were true, but the fact of the matter is, the Biblical god contradicts reality.

God said “Lets make man in our image”

Evolution says man was the result of a million accident gene eruptions

There is no planning, no design in evolution

There is in Creation

You cannot mix the two

So were supposed to be sheeple and follow 2 guys?? There Christian scientists who don’t believe in evolution, there’s atheists who don’t either.

I know many christians who are not so close-minded and set in their ways that they can keep an open-mind to things that have hard evidence to back them up…the church used to believe the sun orbits the earth, and the earth is flat, etc etc…but they eventually got on board with science on those topics too…

Because one of those half-baked theory are believed by many to be an absolute truth in spite of an utter lack of any supporting evidence apart from an outdated book.

Why sully your point by quoting bad versions of the Bible? The Proverbs cite ought to be “your own understanding” and not intelligence..

I argue against evolution on the basis that it is bad science that does not stand up to snuff through scientific methodology. What can we witness first person? What experimentation is reproducible? The answers come back as none. No one was able to witness the first alleged evolved organism and no one is able to witness today any sort of evolutionary change in organisms today. Natural selection/adaptation is not evidence of this despite what i read on the internet to the contrary. It is simply adaptation which will revert if and when environmental factors once again change.back to their former state. There is no permanent change which is then passed on to future generations of creatures.

The bottome line remains unchanged: Science and God go hand-in-hand with no conflicts. Science observes the created world and its creatures to find laws and principles which exist amongst and between the various forms. But science can’t prove or disprove the existence of God since God is outside of the natural world in which science operates. But science must rely upon the assumption that the created universe operates upon dependable laws and principles. Anything less would mean chaos and an inability to solve any problems or answer any questions.
